COVID-19 Statement

Dear Light of Hearts Villa Community,

We, at Light of Hearts Villa, acknowledge that there are many questions and concerns regarding the COVID-19 virus. According to the Center for Disease Control (CDC), seniors are at the greatest risk of illness and/or death from the COVID-19 virus. I am writing to communicate important information that is essential for the well-being of our residents. Whether you are a family member, friend, volunteer, or congregation member, we know that you share our concern for the health and safety of our residents. For this reason, we know that you will understand and appreciate the extraordinary circumstances brought about by the emergence of the virus.

On March 11th, the Director of the Ohio Department of Health, Dr. Amy Acton, at the direction of Governor DeWine, issued a binding directive to all nursing homes in the State of Ohio restricting all non-essential persons from visiting. Specifically, the order compels us to “restrict access to all homes only to those personnel who are absolutely necessary for the operation of the homes." For this reason, it is incumbent on us to suspend all outside visitors – including delivery persons, volunteers and those attending daily Mass. I realize the burden this places on family members and loved ones, and I share your disappointment and concern. Your understanding that the health and well-being of our residents is our highest priority makes you an important and essential partner in their care. Everyone is encouraged to find alternative means of “visiting," such as telephone calls, Facetime, Skype or e-mail. While these precautions may seem extensive, they are in the best interest of our residents, and I am grateful for your understanding and cooperation.

At the time Dr. Acton’s order was enacted, no end date was given. The presumption is that the visiting restrictions will remain in place for several weeks – perhaps longer. Please refer to our website for status updates, as we intend to post the most up-to-date information as it emerges.

Again, thank you for your understanding and cooperation during this unprecedented circumstance. Please know that we share the same goal: the well-being of our residents. Working together, we will weather this storm and emerge better for embracing these necessary sacrifices.

For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
2 Timothy 1:7

Loving and Provident God, you are the one who grants us the days of our lives and fills them with your loving care. We praise you for the many years and countless blessings that you have given. Strengthen us with the reminder that our days are in your hands and our purpose in this life comes from you. Fill our minds and hearts with thankful thoughts, pleasant memories and quiet contentment. Your grace alone is enough for us. Amen.
