Spirituality & Aging

"The heart of the Villa" is what residents call the chapel. It is their way to identify the importance of spirituality in their lives. Being a faith-based residence, we experience the inner beauty of seniors and help nurture their spirits in many ways. We do this by focusing on their unique reflections on life, it’s meaning and it’s relationship with the Divine.

Ministers in the area, including our resident chaplain, provide regular Catholic and ecumenical services. Residents daily pray the rosary in common. At any time you can walk past the chapel and be inspired by a resident simply sitting and praying there.

Some programs are also open to area seniors. A monthly “Soup and Bread” program has a social justice focus. The Seniors Searching Scripture Program guides seniors in scripture study and its meaning for their lives.

As one resident said, “Don’t you think the most important thing for me at this stage of life is to prepare spiritually…?” We listen to seniors and follow their lead.

But most beautiful and most rare is a gracious old age
which has drawn from life the skill to take its varied strands:
the harsh advance of age, the pang of grief,
the passing of dear friends, the loss of strength,
and with fresh insight weave them
into a rich and gracious pattern all its own.
This is the greatest skill of all,
to take the bitter with the sweet and make it beautiful,
to take the whole of life in all its moods,
